If you are ever in Milwaukee, go to the county zoo.
I have all of these memories of it being a fantastic zoo, so I was curious to see if it was as good as I remembered. This is the second time we've taken Zach (Charlie's first trip), and I'm happy to report this zoo is even better than I thought it was when I was a kid! In fact, someday I'd like to go back by myself or with a like-minded adult... Zach just does not have the interest or patience in watching the animals for more than a couple seconds. And when they are active like they were on Sunday - I could sit there all day.
Anyway, we were in Milwaukee for the long weekend, visiting my family. More on the rest of the visit shortly; I had such a good time taking picture of all the animals I had to edit those first. :) Bear with me (pun intended).
^This is Brittany the African elephant. Her roommate Ruth kept picking up a log with her trunk and dropping it with a crash that made us humans jump. And I wish I'd brought my zoom lens to capture this lazy grizzly... snoozing the day away in his hammock.
^The other wild animals at the zoo.
^Check out that rack! That was about as high as that poor caribou could lift his head. And who doesn't like to laugh at the ridiculous pink of flamingos??
^A small thing, but so fun for kids: rocks in a stream to jump across!
^A rare sighting - a picture of me! With big 'ol Ruth in the background, tossing her tree trunk around. I love the zoo!!!<>
