My good college friend Sarah and her family came into town (from Portland, OR) the first half of 4th of July weekend. They managed to fit us into their WI tour to visit family - and I'm so happy they did!
First Sarah and I got to spend an afternoon together, since she flew in earlier than the rest of her family. We had a nice lunch and got to catch up while strolling through the mall (our plans for a nice walk outside were stymied by the humid 96 degree weather). When the rest of the clan arrived, we headed to our house for some relaxing and just enjoying being with friends we don't see often enough.
It's amazing how kids can just instantly create/renew friendships - Zach hasn't seen Aiden (almost 9) and Ava (5) since last summer, but you would never have known. They had a great time together, including a big and surprisingly successful sleepover in Zach's room!
We spent Saturday morning at a 4th of July parade, and the rest of the afternoon lounging on the deck while the kids ran and splashed themselves ragged in the backyard. It was an early night for the kids, since they were up late the night before but still awake at the crack of dawn, which gave us adults more time to catch up.
The time flew by... we're already trying to figure out when we can see the Neudecks again!
