Lately I've noticed Zach hasn't been particularly interested in eating. He's always been like that in the morning, he's up for hours before he wants to eat (he does NOT get that from me, I wake up starving!). But lately he hasn't wanted to eat lunch or dinner either. He's happy to eat once we get him in the chair, but it's getting him in his chair that's the issue. I was wondering if he was just too busy playing to eat, which is a phenomenon I'd heard about but assumed happened at a later age (3??). The great thing about having a kid that talks is that you no longer have to guess... when I asked him if he wanted to eat lunch the other day, his simple response was - "no, mama, PLAY!" That answers that question!
And speaking of lunch, Zach just experienced his first juicy lucy at Matt's Bar in Minneapolis. Well, he mostly ate french fries, but it's the experience that counts. For those of you that have been there, picture three women, three 21-month olds, and a baby crammed into one booth. We were right by the front door, so every time someone walked in they'd do a double-take - are we in the right place?!?!? Hilarious. But we made it through lunch without any disasters, just a few sippy cups thrown and one sleeve dunked in ketchup (and it wasn't even Zach's)! Not bad.
